Tell me everything

Hello, friend. Happy Friday! I have five little things to share (with all the links) ⤵

Something good to read. . .

I picked up Suleika Jaouad’s The Book of Alchemy last weekend during my Indie Bookshop Day adventure. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and it’s such a good read. I’m currently reading a tiny little bit each morning with my other daily readers, but it’s really hard not to devour it.

Something fun. . .

The leaves on all the trees have finally started popping out where I am right now in Western Maine, and it’s bringing me so much joy. I had never noticed what I call “the unfurling season” before moving to Maine, maybe because things take longer to thaw here than anywhere else I’ve lived. The sun is shining more this week too, calling me outside more and more. Let the warm fun begin!

Something delicious. . .

Elizabeth Strout’s Tell Me Everything is the definition of delicious. She nailed the quintessential Maine salt-of-the-earth characters and New England winter-spring vibes, in my opinion. And the “tell me everything” element of the story is a gorgeous depiction of community. If you have any history or family ties to Maine or just want to spend more time here someday, I think you'd love it

Something I’m curious about. . .

One of my favorite essays so far in The Book of Alchemy is Ash Parsons Story’s “Just Ten Images” where she shares her daily practice of writing about 10 moments she wants to remember from her day and how it’s transformed her life. I’m trying this practice in my journal, and it’s making me wish I could go back in time and take up the practice when my kiddos were little. I wish I could remember so many special little moments I’ve forgotten. I’m curious — why do we forget the special little things if we don’t write them down? Or is it just me?

Something soothing. . .

The more I learn, the more I realize I haven’t yet learned.” This little saying has become a life motto for me lately. I find it soothing to know that no matter how many books we read, no matter how much we grow and change, there will always be more to read, more to know, more ways to open our minds to growth and change. Or, as my mentor Eleanor Roosevelt reminds us all in You Learn by Living, “Readjustment is endless.” Also, a related (challenging) question from last week’s 3-2-1 newsletter by James Clear: “Which relationships in your life push you toward growth and which reinforce stagnation?” So soothing and challenging, I guess.

💛

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are this morning. I hope you’re surrounded by chances to enjoy nature and you’re finding things you love around every corner. I hope you’re thriving. And if you ever want to tell me everything, I’m here. (Although I may be a little slower to respond to messages for the next week or so since we move into our new home this week ~ eek!)

Thank you for being here,

Celeste
