Road Trippin' in an Electric Vehicle: a photo gallery
We didn’t want to admit it, but our truck was dying. Last spring, after hauling our little family around for over 200,000 miles and hauling our Airstream across the entire US several times over, it probably deserved to die. But we were trying desperately to ignore it, patching things here and there.
Then, inevitably, the grinding and creaking noises and perpetual low tire pressure got on my last nerve. I was always worrying about it. And when we took trips, I worried even more. Finally, I called my husband one weekend from a solo trip to Portland and said, “I don’t care what we have to do — we need a new car.”
We knew we wanted an electric vehicle for our next season of family road tripping.
But we had so many questions.
So.
Many.
Questions.
That was four months ago.
Since then, we’ve put 8,000 miles on our Kia EV6 road tripping around New England.
We love it.
We love how smooth and quiet the ride is.
We love how we can zoom around any and everything. (Two words — sport mode.)
We love that we can plug our car in at home, charge up for under $10, and get 300 miles on one full charge.
We love visiting random charging stations everywhere we’ve been exploring this summer —
Portland, Maine
Stowe, Vermont & Miles Pond
& of course, all the spots in Acadia and Mount Desert Island
We also love that we don’t need gas stations anymore—at all, ever.
But we keep hearing from people who have questions — and doubts.
And I’ve even been asked by RV Today Magazine to write a piece about road tripping in an electric vehicle.
So I thought I’d open up the floor for questions here on the blog to see what you’ve got ⤵⤵⤵
Do you have questions about EV Roadtripping? Send them my way.
Seriously, I’d love to hear them.
I’ll answer every single one.
(& you know I’ll follow up in a few months with the RV Today link in the email group, too)
