The Best Weekend to be a Booklover
Quick, cancel your plans for this weekend—or at the very least, revise them. Because if you love books (or even like them a little) you’re going to want to get yourself to a bookshop this weekend.
It happens every year on the last Saturday of April in all 50 states of the USA, which although I can hardly believe it, is tomorrow—authors, music, cupcakes, free stuff, scavenger hunts, kids events, art tables, readings, barbecues, giveaways, special swag, contests, & more — Indie Bookstore Day!
It’s basically the best weekend all year long to be a booklover. Because not only are there special releases, prizes, and events, there are usually a few special sales, new bookish swag, and a really fun booklover vibe (aka. a great place to find new bookish friends but also totally cool if you just want to walk through the aisles and not talk to anyone, which is 99% of the time what I like to do). And it’s super easy to participate—here’s how ⤵

That’s it. That’s all you have to do to join the fun and support an independent bookstore in your community. Just by being there, you will have made your local bookseller’s day (trust me, they’ve been looking forward to this at least since January and they really, really want you to show up and enjoy the fun).

I’m off to do a little bit of seed-starting in the greenhouse today (eek!), and first thing Saturday morning I’m headed to my very favorite bookshop in all of Maine to celebrate with them, buy a few new books, and hunt down a cupcake or two.
