5 little things, from Maine with love

It’s snowing outside my window right now. For the second time since moving back to Maine last weekend, I’ve woken up in the morning to snowflakes drifting down.

Locals know this isn’t anything new. It snows in Maine pretty much every April, especially in the mountain regions, but I can tell you it catches this Georgia-born lady by surprise every single time. Especially this particular April, since it was over 80° when I left Savannah last Saturday and 39° when I landed in Portland.

I’m loving it.

Here’s why — because being back in Maine means I’m just a few weeks away from moving into my little family’s new home and our on-the-road-again adventure is ending. I hope to find the space and grace to write about what I’ve learned over the past seven months and how our path unexpectedly brought us back to Maine. But for now, just let me say I am SO excited to have found a place we’re excited to call home.

What that means, though, is that the next several weeks/months are likely to be, shall we say, full in my neck of the woods and my writing window might be smaller. Even so, after six years of Friday morning emails, I’m not about to stop now. And since I tend to really enjoy small list messages from my favorite internet writers, I thought I might spend the next few Friday mornings sharing five little things that have brought me joy with you.

Let the five little things era begin.

Maybe I’ll do this for six to eight weeks until I find my new footing. Maybe I’ll need a few more or a few less. Or who knows, maybe I’ll love the five little things structure so much I’ll keep it for a whole year or more. I don’t know right now, but what I do know is this — I’ll only share things I’ve tried and loved myself, things I recommend trying if you’re interested, and there will almost always be something to read, something to help you thrive, and something that’s soothing in some way. I hope you love them. Here are my five little things this week ⤵

Something good to read. . .

100 Ways to Live Better” by Jacob Falkovich

Something helping me thrive. . .

Superfoods: Eat Your Way to Health and Longevity, a National Geographic special edition bookazine

Something yummy. . .

With love, Meghan on Netflix (especially the skillet spaghetti and beeswax candles in Episode 1)

Something challenging. . .

10 Must-Reads on Managing Yourself by the folks at Harvard Business Review

Something soothing. . .

A sweet little set of 100% cotton hand-crocheted washcloths my sister made for me like these that make me feel at home no matter where I am & a quote from Simple Abundance:The process is the reality, and it cannot be rushed.”

Wherever you are this morning, whatever’s going on outside your window and inside your heart and mind, I hope at least one of these five little things brings you a bit of love, joy, growth, and maybe even a sense of peace for the days ahead.

Until next time,

Celeste 💛
